As the former fashion editor of Russh Magazine, Sydney based designer Kym Ellery has all the contacts a young label could ask for. But, as anyone in the fashion business will tell you, contacts are nothing without talent, guts and determination. Lucky for us, Ellery has all of that and more.
Ellery has the dark and shiny aesthetic of Neneh Cherry if she were playing Barbarella. Gold leather dresses give way to black shag-pile coats. Flowing biker inspired jackets in baby blue are toughened up with super tight, chrome spiked high waisted jeans.
For us however, the essential Ellery look is its expert pairing of glossy black with faded grey. The overall impression is beyond Thunderdome and streets ahead of cool. It’s no wonder that the young designer is fast becoming one of Australia’s hottest fashion talents.
