Our dream wife M.I.A’s new video for the amazing track Born Free has been doing the rounds this week, and let me tell you, it’s frickin incredible. Directed by Romain Gavras (the man who made the ultra controversial clip for Justice), it presents a metaphor for racial injustice that is hard to miss. Still, despite the heavy handedness of the content, it is filmed with much beauty and subtlety. M.I.A has a history of pushing boundaries both in her music and her service to social causes. She’s also a megababe. Watch and learn.

Quick warning – this contains violence and some nudity.

Being under 18 can be tough. You can’t drive, get a credit card or bet on greyhound racing. Even worse, you hardly ever get to see your favourite bands play because unless you go in for Lady Gaga or Black Eyed Peas, most gigs are in pubs or bars. So unless you have an older sibling that looks a lot like you and is willing to give up their I.D, you’re shit out of luck. That’s why it’s cool that Converse put on this underage festival in London last month. Featuring great acts like Egyptian Hip-Hop and New Young Pony Club, it gave cool kids a chance to enjoy some awesome live music. And, you know, it kept them off the streets for a while which is always good. Nice one Converse. You should do one down here.

How was your long weekend? Ours was pretty much exactly like this awesome new clip for psych-hop artist Hudson Mohawke. Based in Glasgow, HudMo is not actually the guy in the video here. Rather, he’s the genius behind the bleeps and bloops that make this track so banging. Direction credits go to Konx-om-Pax. Thanks for the flashbacks guys.
