Whoa, check out this video from one of the largest skate event in the world, ever. Hosted at Old Spitalfields Market in East London, the Vans Downtown Showdown attracted over 10,000 skate fans. With that many spectators and some serious moolah on the line for the winners, it’s no surprise that the action on the field was hot.
A robot that can paint? It’s not exactly a “what will they think of next” moment. Still, Benjamin Grosser’s Interactive Robot Painting Machine isn’t your standard automaton that does something humans usually do. For example, rather than produce predetermined images like, the Mona Lisa for example, this thing converts ambient sound and the noise it creates with its own gears and mechanisms into different brush strokes and colours. Not that you’d know that from looking at its paintings. Still, it’s definitely a cool thing to look at.

Converse are amping up their hold on the title of “most worn sneaker in music” with the latest three artist collaboration. This time they’ve assembled an eclectic dream team of musos featuring indie duo Matt & Kim, the most enthusiastic rocker of all time Andrew W.K and a guy who probably doesn’t need much of an introduction: Soulja Boy. Oh, the video in which the gruesome foursome rise from the dead to rock out is pretty epic too. To watch, download and catch the behind the scenes video, click here.
