There’s something so deliciously subversive about wearing Lacoste. It feels like crashing a debutante ball at a country club where you’re most definitely not welcome. But you don’t have to be too well heeled to respect the on and off court accomplishments of the brand’s namesake Rene Lacoste. The French tennis legend not only redefined the sport all those years ago, he also invented the dual-stemmed steel racquet. To pay tribute, Lacoste is releasing this very classy “Steel Racquet” range that recalls the pre-grunt days of tennis. Look out for them in select stores this week.

To celebrate the 2010 football World Cup, a bunch of fixed-gear riders got together to stage their own soccer match, without getting off their bikes. Sound like a recipe for disaster to you? Judging from the number of goals vs. falls in this highlight package, we can’t decide if it’s the most genius thing ever, or merely a sure way to break an arm. On thing’s for sure, it’s impressive as hell, and lots of fun to watch. Kudos to NIKE for coming up with an interesting way to celebrate soccer.
