AIR MAX 98 QS

Nike plays with palettes and splash on a Cone/Tour Yellow/Hyper Grape rendition of the firebrand Air Max 98. The familiar full-length Max Air sole from the previous generation's Air Max 97 returns - this time hardly the most prominent feature. Instead, a bright multi-coloured version of the panelled upper is the drawcard: a combination of orange, aqua, purple and aforementioned yellow make an appearance in a variety of materials like leather, mesh and microfibre. Harnessing the colourblocking potential of the retro runner's multiple layers, the colour scheme takes on a patterned approach, co-ordinating different areas: Air unit to tongue and laces; mudguard, lining and lace loops, laces, tongue and upper zone. A tutti-frutti combination that breaks new ground - just as the original design did 20 years ago.
