Lucinda Price – aka as Froomes – is not only funny, a talented writer and generally kicking goals, she’s also one of this year’s Hype Girls. We sat down with Lucinda post-campaign shoot to find out how she’s forged a successful career, what advice she has for those wanting to get into the industry and where she sees herself in 2021.

Hey Lucinda, nice to meet you. Firstly, can you tell our readers a little about what you do?
I’m a writer and comedian.

So, how did you get into writing?
In high school, my best friend Madison lived really far away, so we’d just talk heaps on Facebook. All we did was talk about our feelings. Eventually, she started a blog, and I’d write things for it. I used one of my stories (I think it was about my dad rolling down a hill on a wheely chair) as a proof of concept for an internship. The internship turned into a job and turned into now!

And how about comedy?
During my internship, I made a Vine (RIP), and it got over a million views. I leveraged that to get an interview at Pedestrian where I worked for four and a half years as a writer, producer and presenter.

Can you tell us a little about your Instagram? What kind of content do you create?
I got Instagram in 2016, purely as a place to put all my brain farts and videos. I love that it’s completely mine and I just put whatever I think is funny on it.

Do you have a favourite project you’ve worked on to-date?
My favourite project so far is Spin Queen. It’s an Instagram documentary I wrote and created. It’s about trying to become Shane Warne’s girlfriend.

What’s been the most memorable moment in your career so far?
Asking Father Bob if he had any pingers

Any advice you can give to people starting out in your industry?
Write your own receipts, then show them. I once told someone I wanted to be on Getaway. They said, “But you’re not a model”. It was savage, but it taught me that in order for people to imagine you doing things, you have to do them first. Just because no one was sending me to Fiji didn’t mean I had to stay home. Instead, I could go take videos of myself in less far-flung places. Like Patterson Lakes. Do enough stuff like that, and eventually, someone will pay you to do it (and if they don’t, you’ll at least have some fun things to embarrass your future children with).

When you manage to get some spare time, what do you like to do?
I love to dance!

What do you get hyped about?
I get hyped by watching The Eric Andre Show and listening to John Farnham and reading Roxanne Gay.

What are you most proud of?
