Nike put a playful spin on the Air Max 90 Quickstrike "Viotech" with a colourful iteration in the lead up to its 30th anniversary. The vibrant design pays tribute to a famous “Viotech” colourway that originally launched in the early 2000’s.
Legendary sneaker designer Tinker Hatfield debuted the Air Max III in 1990. Defined by its large heel Air unit framed in a chunky sculpted midsole, this bold design introduced a unique language to Air Max including ribbed eyelets and the iconic heart shaped heel logo. It wasn’t until the early 2000’s when this sneaker would become the Air Max 90 in tribute to its birth year.
The history of Nike’s “Viotech” colourway reaches as far back as 2002 with a Japanese exclusive Nike Dunk Low. This eye-catching edition featured a clash of colour and was unofficially titled “Rainbow”. Indicating the eggplant-purple shade, “Viotech” has made notable appearances on collaborations from Japan’s sneaker retailer Atmos, a 2013 reissue of the 2002 Dunk Low and a recent Shox TL collaboration from UK’s Size?.
Paying respect to the original Dunk Low, the Air Max 90 QS “Viotech” features the same abundance of colour in a supple suede construction. Ballistic mesh ensures breathability while big Air cushions every step. The Air Max 90 QS “Viotech” will be one for the collection, launching in extremely limited numbers at select Australian stores from Thursday 25.7.19. Contact your local store to find out more.
