What do Rihanna, Ralph Lauren and The Broken Arm all have in common? Well, they’re all swooning over the ice-cold sneakers emanating from Salomon’s lab right now.

Born in the French Alps during the 1940s, Salomon’s passion for outdoor sports, new technologies, and dedicated craftsmanship drove the brand to create progressive gear that provided the wearer with a sense of freedom matched by a capability to challenge themselves in the great outdoors. Over the ensuing decades, Salomon successfully expanded into hiking and trail gear, eventually taking the sneaker market by storm with popular silhouettes like the Speedcross. This crossover helped broaden their appeal, making the leading manufacturer in style-driven alpine gear admired all over the globe.

Bolstered by their link-up with French cultural curators and influential boutique The Broken Arm in 2014, Salomon have also made giant strides in the collaborative sphere. As the reputation has grown, Palace, UNDERCOVER, Boris Bidjan Saberi, and TAKAHIROMIYASHITATheSoloist have all tapped the brand for their pure execution of the oft-overused term, ‘athleisure’.

Successfully scaling the nexus between streetwear and performance, the alpine giant continues to make huge strides in the world of fashion, carving out their own unique path in a route often overrun by retromania.

Their latest release, a modern rendition of a beloved Salomon running shoe, is yet another example of their ability to effortlessly combine performance with style. Dubbed the XA Pro 3D ADV, the silhouette incorporates all the vintage DNA of its predecessor, while expressing innovative nous with the kind of unadulterated swagger that Salomon have been cultivating for years. Modernised with all of the brand’s future-forward technologies, it’s a shoe that’s sure to stand the test of time.

For starters, Salomon’s signature Contragrip tech ensures a stable ride in rain, hail or shine. Combining a range of different compounds and densities, the Contragrip soles are specifically tailored to combat the areas that wear away quicker (like the edge of the outsole), while lower density and increased flexibility provides more comfort and malleability in the other areas (like the central area of the outsole).

Toning things down, the low-cut Chuck Taylor All Star CX Ox hits differently, coming through with a classic all-white upper. Once again, the sole unit takes centre stage, also making use of a contrasting orange hue.

Consisting of seven different compounds, the Contragrip is paired with the 3D Advanced Chassis, installed between the outsole and midsole. Leveraging motion control, the 3D Advanced Chassis ensures that energy is constantly being conserved, while still offering the dual function of supreme comfort. The wearer can expect the same consistently stable ride, whatever their adventure or the conditions, ensuring just as much traction in wet weather as you’ll enjoy when the sun’s out!

Inside the shoe, the moulded OrthoLite insoles are designed to emulate the contours of your foot, delivering a superior ride and further enhancing the already elite comfort levels.

Back on the outside, the Quicklace system saves you the usual time spent tightening your laces, meaning you can launch into that adventure more quickly. Additionally, the modernised mesh pattern on the upper allows Salomon to fully embrace a vibrant palette, helping the colourways stand out as much as all that cutting-edge tech.

And the best part? They look absolutely killer.
