You can tell a lot about a person by the shoes they wear, and if you could see my shoes right now, I’m sure you’d agree they’re a very noble, talented, charismatic yet down to earth set of kicks.

This new exhibition from multi-talented artist Nathaniel Kiwi allows you to run the old footwear check over some of your favourite creative types through a set of beautifully painted portraits.

How exactly? Well the kicker is that each painting is footnoted with a still life image of that person’s favourite footwear. Talk about getting right to the sole of your subject (ok I’ll stop with the puns now). For example, Chris Lilley (of Summer Heights High fame) gets around in Nike Air Max. Which is weird because I could equally see him in a lovely pair of Manolo Blahniks.

See for yourself at Global Gallery, 12-4pm, 5 Comber Street, Paddington, NSW. Exhibition closes Sun.
