Each year, advertisers across America spend millions to get airtime during the nation’s biggest television event. It’s a gamble, because to be noticed, you really have to push your idea to the limit. If you’re going for heart-warming, you gotta pull out all the stops. Soldiers returning home, kids being given little puppies; that sort of thing. If you’re going for funny, that’s even harder. Lots of brands, like Doritos and GoDaddy.com even get their ads banned in the search for a memorable commercial. Coke, who usually does well, enlisted some big guns this year, namely the cast of The Simpsons. And while the premise is pretty amazing, the end product, like the drink, is kind of saccharine.
