One Day Without Shoes is a non-profit organisation based in the States started by TOMS shoes which raises awareness of the millions of people around the world who are too poor too afford basic footwear. Every year, they encourage people to spend a day barefoot, to experience the cuts, scrapes, heat, cold and dirt of life without shoes. Now, we could probably handle the first four of those things but the idea of walking through the city with no protection against the grimy gutter runoff makes us pretty uncomfortable – which is sort of the point.
This year’s nominated day was April 8. Head to the website to find out how you and your friends can help. A world without poverty? Vote with your feet.
