When adidas Originals debuted the re-engineered Tubular earlier this year, the masses were induced into a frenzy over the relevant, avant-garde design principles of the Three Stripes that appropriated the discursive lines of Yohji Yamamoto's Y-3 footwear line. To elevate the heightened design higher, adidas have combined it's latest silhouette with that of their innovative Primeknit upper.

The invention of Primeknit has was encouraged by the competitive nature of footwear technology. It was born to perform, to innovate and to break the boundaries of material applications to footwear uppers. Abiding by the age old ideals of performance footwear design, Primeknit strives to deliver a lightweight, breathable and tensile structure to support, ventilate and cushion the runner's foot.

The Primeknit Tubular is an exercise in innovation. From design and material perspectives, the shoe delivers a unique snake skin scale effect (one of the many limitless attributes of Primeknit weaves) while securing its own 'seatbelt' or lace fastening overlay to support the one-piece upper. With the soft yet bold look gracing the streets, it would be a shame to dodge this bullet of Three Stripes innovation and forward thinking.
