It was five years ago that adidas first introduced their BOOST technology, but it became a global takeover at the beginning of 2015 when the UltraBOOST silhouette was revealed. Championed by athletes like Yohan Blake and celebrities like Kanye West, the shoe was a major milestone for adidas that once again bridged the worlds of performance and style. In 2018, adidas is reimagining BOOST once again with the P.O.D-S3.1, which stands for 'Point of Deflection System'. The shoe features a split sole: A segment of BOOST at the heel and adidas' longstanding EVA technology at the forefoot, joined by a TPU midfoot bridge. For the P.O.D-S3.1, adidas has dug through the archives and taken the best bits of their history, infusing it into a groundbreaking sole.

The result is a flexible and comfortable sneaker that encourages the natural motion of the foot, finished off with a durable rubber outsole to withstand your everyday wear. The three stripes logo takes a more subtle role by blending into the background of a knitted upper, which champions breathability and ensures a snug ride. P.O.D-S3.1 branding is written on the upper, as well as on the heel tab which allows you to slip in with ease.

Excitingly, adidas designer Lena Groneck says that this is just the beginning. "We didn’t limit ourselves and, as a result, we found beauty in the most unusual combinations," she says in an interview with Sneaker Freaker. "These are now opening up so many opportunities and possibilities for us as we look towards the future."
