The 1993 Reebok Aztrek was released during the most exciting era of performance footwear. With an aggressive design, the lightweight Aztrek showed off a bold aesthetic that still looks good today. For the first time in 25 years, the off-road runner now returns for a new generation.

Following on from a decade dominating aerobics and fitness, Reebok decided to expand their running category in the early ‘90s by taking a different path with their Pinnacle Performance division. Leading the venture was the agile Aztrek with its lightweight build and unique panelling design. This trailblazer was an innovative, functional design with ‘90s era attitude to match. It’s no surprise that the Aztrek was created by Christian Tresser, a footwear designer that would go on to create some of the most innovative sneakers over the next decade.

Dubbed a rugged, versatile running shoe, the Aztrek came equipped with a diamond-studded outsole and encapsulated Hexalite cushioning. This responsive technology was inspired by honeycomb – one of the strongest patterns found in nature. The result was a sole unit that offers 23% more cushioning than traditional EVA foam designs. Summoned by the call of ‘90s nostalgia and chunky aesthetics, the Aztrek returns in 2018 with everything that made the original striking, introducing its bold look for a new modern lifestyle.

For our first collection, we present a pair of energetic colourways that uses retro palettes that stay true to the ‘90s. The “Solar Orange” and “Digital Blue” introduces the silhouette to Hype DC for the first time, a preview of the exciting range of Aztreks releasing in store over the rest of year.
