Nike was first known as Blue Ribbon Sports before rebranding as Nike in 1971. Founded by Phil Knight and Bill Bowerman, the duo started selling imported running shoes out of Knight's car boot - actually being an early distributor for Japanese company Onitsuka Tiger. Now the $30 billion company is ubiquitous in modern sneaker culture, having experienced a monumental shift in popularity from the sporting field to the realms of streetwear and even recently high fashion, thanks to ongoing collaborative efforts and limited edition releases.

Tapping into the creative minds of influencers Sean Wotherspoon, Stash, Futura 2000, Virgil Abloh amongst others, Nike is reinterpreting and reinventing its brand and style. Behind all of this is Nike's iconic catchphrase "Just Do It"" and their naming after the Greek goddess of victory. To list all of the Swoosh's achievements and iconic designs would be impossible - Air Max, Air Force, React and Flyknit. None of this would be possible without legendary designers Tinker Hatfield (Air Max 1, Air Max 90, et al), Sergio Lozano (Air Max 95), Christian Tresser (Air Max 97, Spiridon), Bruce Kilgore (Air Force 1) amongst others.

Continuing a never-ending drive for innovation, Air technology remains the forefront of Nike's efforts: Vapormax, Air Max 270 and the latest Air Max 720. NSW also serves as an outlet for the sneakerhead: reissuing OG colourways and silhouettes such as the 90s All Conditions Gear (ACG) line and classic basketball styles in the Vandal and Dunk. It's not just athletes and the fashion forward that Nike caters to - kids are covered with adorable mini-me sneakers and those who wish to lounge can with multiple colours of the Benassi slide. Nike is also for Women, by Women with exclusive models like the Air Max Dia, Air Max Thea and M2K Tekno. Hype DC carries the best range of Sportswear footwear - Afterpay available on all purchases.
