This month, we’ve gone back to basics and photographed an edit of the sneakers every wardrobe needs – and how to wear them five different ways.

For the campaign – aptly titled The Essentials – we tapped seven Sydney-based Hype DC retail team members to show us how they’ll be wearing their staple kicks this season. From chill and streetwear vibes, through to outfits for the great outdoors, smart casual events and nights out, this style edit proves sneakers really are for any occasion.

We caught up with our campaign stars post-shoot to hear about their modelling debut, the outfits they loved and where they’ll be wearing them.

"Outdoor Living"

Seb: This one's for camping trips with the boys. I struggle to find shoes I like wearing with shorts and long socks, but the Asics Japan S looks so fresh. I can finally let my legs get some sun!

Dylan: This look is perfect for those rooftop bar days, days in the backyard by the pool or just a day out to the beach.

Sherene: This is the sort of outfit I’d wear on a summer arvo – just a relaxed, comfortable ’fit to kick back in. I like how summery the Superstars look with the crisp white and mint green colours.

"Smart Casual"

Seb: I’d wear this out to dinner or a fancy bar. Dressy, yet cool and relaxed.

Carin: The blazer and matching short combo is just the right amount of smart vs casual. I’d wear this look on a night out, or even to work on days when I’m feeling like getting a little more dressed up.

Demi: My smart casual look is simple, but brings out my boss lady mode. I feel adding a blazer to any outfit makes it that little bit extra. The shoes are the perfect smart and comfy addition.

Sherenei: I like mixing masculine and feminine styles, so a power suit moment with adidas Superstars makes me feel strong and confident. I’d wear this out to dinner in the city.

"Night Out"

Ahmed: This is one hundred per cent my favourite outfit. A black turtleneck, with a black jacket, teamed up with a pair of checkered pants. It’s a super clean and polished look.

Grant: Date night outfit – clean, comfortable and versatile. And I could totally rip a couple of dance moves at the afterparty.
