Profile #10.

Nic Dowse

Founder of Melbourne-based creative beekeeping studio, Honey Fingers

To celebrate Earth Day we caught up with Honey Fingers as part of Hype DC’s People at Home Series.

Honey Fingers, an urban beekeeping network, produces low intervention, bee-friendly, small batch, hand crafted, single-source honey. With a philosophy that “Honey is what geography tastes like” and a focus to produce a natural and genuine Australian product, it’s fitting we bring you this story today.

“Bee cultures” is a term used to describe the special culture that exists between bees and humans. Honey Fingers is concerned with promoting, investigating and experimenting with bee cultures– the intersection between honeybees and humanity; and celebrates our symbiosis.

Honey Fingers is six seasons old, deeply collaborative, and continuously transforms to suit the directions new friends, new projects and the honey road takes it.

Nic completes a honey extraction workshop: a quick look into the kitchen of a small-batch urban beekeeper.
